One visit.
Full picture.
Every test returns a precise, clinical-grade reading. Stack two or three into a single appointment and see your whole physiology in one sitting. Not sure where to start? Take the 60-second quiz.

DEXA Body Composition Scan
The gold standard for reading body composition. It maps fat, lean tissue, and bone density region by region at ±2% clinical accuracy, so you see what your body is actually made of instead of a single number on the scale.

VO₂ Max Test
The single strongest predictor of long-term health and lifespan. Walk or run on the treadmill while we measure your aerobic ceiling, then leave with a plan to raise it. A VO₂ Max reading plus the heart-rate zones to train by.

Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) Test
Formula-based calculators miss real metabolism by as much as ±20%. Fifteen minutes of quiet breathing into a mask pins down your true daily calorie baseline, so your nutrition plan works with your biology instead of against it.
Combined Testing Bundles
Pair any two tests, or run all three in a single appointment, for a more complete reading at a better rate than booking each one separately.

How it works
Measure. Track. Discover.
From booking your slot to walking out with answers, here is how a visit on the North Shore unfolds.
Choose your tests
Book one, or fold two or three into a single visit. Not sure what fits? Take the 60-second quiz and we'll steer you to the right one.
Visit and get tested
Each test runs 8 to 15 minutes with no needles. DEXA, VO₂ Max, and RMR are all non-invasive. Just arrive prepped using your session guide.
Walk out with your report
Every number comes with context, what it means and the action it calls for. You leave with a clear next step, not a stack of raw data.
Before you arrive
How to get ready for each test.
A little prep keeps your numbers honest. Cutting a corner, even slightly, can nudge the readings off.

Quick answers
Common questions.
DexaFit pairs clinical-grade technology with reporting shaped by more than ten years of real-world testing across four continents. A typical provider hands you a figure and stops there. Here on Chicago's North Shore we hand you the figure, what is driving it, what it means for you, and the next move to make.
Yes. The scan delivers an extremely small dose of X-ray energy, less than a routine chest X-ray and about what you take in from a few hours of ordinary background exposure. Hospitals and research centers have relied on the technology for decades, and it is considered safe for most healthy adults.
The DEXA scan itself runs about 8 minutes. Add check-in and a walk-through of your results and you are looking at roughly 30 minutes in the door. The VO₂ Max test runs about 15 minutes, and with check-in, a warm-up, and your results review, plan on about 45 minutes. RMR runs about 15 minutes, or roughly 30 minutes with check-in and review. Stack all three into one visit and you are usually finished inside 90 minutes.
If you are on a GLP-1, start with the DEXA scan. Your bathroom scale cannot tell fat loss from muscle loss, and the scan can. Roughly 1 in 3 pounds lost on these medications is lean mass, and a DEXA shows whether that is happening to you. Pair it with an RMR test to complete the metabolic picture.
Absolutely, and we encourage it. Your report is built on the same clinical-grade technology and language physicians already use. Clients routinely share their results with a primary care doctor, endocrinologist, sports medicine physician, or dietitian, and the numbers slot right into that conversation.
A cadence of every 3 to 6 months works well for most people, letting you see how your body responds to changes in training, nutrition, or medication. Your first visit fixes the baseline. Each return visit shows what is actually moving the needle, down to the tissue level.
